A Complete Guide To Pumping Slurries

Image
Slurries are specialized compounds found in many processing industries, including sanitary industries such as food, dairy, beverage processing, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Slurries combine properties of both liquids and solids, and so specialized consideration must be given when it comes to determining the type and size of slurry pump to use with them. This article will focus on: Defining what slurries are The types of pumps   that may be used to pump slurries Factors to consider when selecting a slurry pump for a particular application A brief overview of a few of the sanitary processing pumps available from CSI suitable for pumping these unique compounds What Are Slurries? Slurries are mixtures of solids and liquids, with the liquid serving as the transport mechanism used to move the solid. The size of the particles (or solids) in slurries ranges from one micron in diameter up to hundreds of millimeters in diameter. The particle size significantly impacts a pump's abilit

Vertical Slurry Pump

Vertical Slurry Pump Product Description The vertical slurry pump  is a vertical axial suction single-stage single suction centrifugal structure. It is mainly composed of impeller, volute, rear liner plate, shaft sleeve, support, support plate, shaft, bearing, bearing body and other parts. The materials of impeller, volute, rear liner plate and other parts in contact with the slurry vary according to the slurry characteristics. The impeller and shaft are connected by threads, and the volute, support and bearing body are connected by bolts. The Slurry   pump  shaft and motor can be driven directly by coupling or belt. The vertical pump has no circumferential peak structure, and the bearing is lubricated with grease. Structural Pump   Features - Single stage, single suction, vertical centrifugal pump- Wet parts such as casing, impeller, liner plate in anti-abrasion high chrome cast iron alloy. - For fluid of high concentration, inlet agitator is designed -According to the depth of the pi

Common Faults & Solutions of Slurry Pumps

During operation, there are four types of common failures of   slurry pumps : corrosion and abrasion, mechanical failure, performance failure and shaft sealing failure. These four types of failures often affect each other. For example, the corrosion and abrasion of the impeller will cause performance failure and mechanical failure, and the damage of the shaft seal will also cause performance failure and mechanical failure.     1. Bearings Overheated A. Too much, too little or deterioration of lubricating grease/oil will cause the bearing to heat up, and the appropriate amount and quality of oil should be adjusted. B. Check whether the pump -motor unit is concentric, adjust the pump and aglign it with the motor. C. If the vibration is abnormal, check whether the rotor is balanced. 2. Reasons and solutions that may causenon output of slurry A. There is still air in the suction pipe or pump, which should be filled with liquid to discharge the air. B. The valves on the inlet and outlet pip
