  A slurry pump is a type of   centrifugal pump   that is designed specifically for pumping slurries. A slurry is a mixture of solids and liquids, typically with a high percentage of solids, such as sand, gravel, or mud. Slurry pumps are used in a variety of applications, such as mining, dredging, and chemical processing, where the pumping of abrasive and corrosive materials is required. Slurry pumps  work by using a spinning impeller to create centrifugal force, which pushes the slurry through the pump's discharge outlet. The impeller is a rotating disk with vanes or blades that move the slurry from the inlet to the outlet of the pump. The impeller is surrounded by a volute or casing, which contains the slurry and directs the flow towards the discharge outlet.
